FRANKLIN, BENJAMIN

A receipt written and signed by Benjamin Franklin, “… received April 21st, 1756 of Mr. John Paschall of Darby, 27 shillings and 6 pence in full for the Gazette to the 5th of February last by Franklin and Hall…” David Hall was a Scottish American printer and business partner of Franklin’s in Philadelphia. He edited and published Franklin’s The Pennsylvania Gazette and Poor Richard’s Almanac, and later bought Franklin’s entire printing business. Afterwards, Hall partnered with William Sellers to become Hall and Sellers, official printers of U.S. continental currency. Benjamin Franklin’s printing enterprises garnered him wealth and status as a prominent voice of the Revolutionary cause. Selling the business granted him more time to dedicate to public and political affairs as well as his famed scientific experiments. A document of excellent content. $8,500.
